Virtual R&D case study; The "peer-reviewed virtuous virtual pharmaceutical company(tm)" of the 21st century
|
Whoever owns the SNPs owns the industry; GenoMed is league-leader
- Learn why the 21st century pharma industry is up for grabs; SNPs identify the furthest upstream steps in pathogenesis, hence the best drug targets
- Understand how patentable cocktails of existing drugs can be tested in Phase IV trials immediately (hence "virtuous" pharma)
- Investigate peer-review; thousands of targets; and screening first for toxicity, only later for efficacy while eliminating risk for investors
- The virtual company can be global; any country can take over. Anybody with relatively little capital can own the pharmaceutical industry
Dr. David W. Moskowitz, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Medical Officer, GenoMed, Inc.

Afternoon site visit: Tour of Amira Pharmaceuticals Research Facility
Waples Research Centre, San Diego
Amira Pharmaceuticals is a small molecule biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and early development of compounds to treat inflammatory disease.
Amira Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline announced in February 2008 that they had entered into a worldwide exclusive agreement to develop, manufacture and commercialize FLAP (5-Lipoxygenase Activating Protein) inhibitors for the treatment of respiratory and cardiovascular disease.
Under the terms of the agreement GSK will be granted an exclusive, worldwide license to develop, manufacture and commercialize Amira’s FLAP inhibitors, including AM103 and other compounds within the current development program. In the event that all potential development and regulatory milestones are successfully achieved, Amira could receive up to US $425 million in upfront and milestone payments. In addition, Amira will be entitled to receive tiered royalty payments based on worldwide net sales and commercial sales milestones.
Not only has Amira benefited from an agreement with GSK: in January 2006, Amira signed a broad agreement with Roche covering a research alliance and an option to in-license two compounds from Roche.
Please book early as places are restricted to a maximum of 30 persons only. Your place is secured on the tour only after email confirmation from the organizers
